SAFA – Cape Town (the biggest of SAFA’s 53 regions boasting a registered membership of 100 000) would be delighted that you form part of what will be an historic tournament. It follows on the highly successful 4 nations tournament held in April 2010 in Cape Town which served as a “test-run” to the amazing FIFA SWC 2010. The teams then were Ghana (then u-20 FIFA world champions), Brazil(current fifa u-20 world champs), Nigeria(losing finalists in 2009) and South Africa.
The double header played on Saturday 10 April at Cape Town stadium (Brazil/Ghana;Nig/RSA) attracted a full-house, 55 000 fans!
The current format of 8 nations with a high-class field including Brazil, Ghana, Nigeria, Japan, Kenya, Cameroon, Argentina (5 times world champions) promises many mouth-watering matches to be played at world-class, FIFA approved, venues such as Cape Town Stadium and Athlone stadium. The marketing / commercial opportunities are plentiful.”The tournament itself will be played every 2 years in Cape Town and has been approved by FIFA, SAFA and all the participating federations. It serves as our legacy to the much-acclaimed FIFA SWC 2010. Indeed, the patron of the event is Dr. Danny Jordaan, the CEO of SWC 2010.
We are very fortunate to already have SuperSport, City of Cape Town and Western Cape Government as our partners. Their contribution thus far has been phenomenal. So why don’t you just plug into what promises to be the next best thing to the SWC 2010!
We wish to assure you that all proceeds will go straight back into football development in the region.”
Yours Sincerely
Norman Arendse
SC, President, Safa Cape Town.
